DESCRIPTION:Alexis Scheer’s new play\, “Laughs in Spanish\,” is presented as a staged reading. \nIt’s Art Basel\, and the stakes are high for the gallery that Mariana runs in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami. And when Mariana’s movie-star mother tries to help out\, things get even more complicado. Laughs in Spanish is a fast-paced\, cafecíto-induced comedy about art and success – and mothers and daughters. \nThis staged reading is part of “Mundo de las Mujeres\,” Milagro’s third annual Women’s History Month festival\, created to center the voices of Latina/e women whose creativity is shaped not only by culture and heritage\, but by the realities of living\, dreaming\, and making art in a time when our communities are at the heart of national conversations.
