DESCRIPTION:Northwest Vocal Arts is thrilled to present our Spring concert Cordillera: Range of the Americas\, which will feature the NWVA professional chamber choir and the NWVA youth choir performing works in Spanish\, Latin and Quechua and celebrating the incredible variety of sounds and rhythms from the Caribbean and South America. \nThe centerpiece of the concert will be Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez. This ground-breaking work\, beloved by audiences worldwide\, is “widely regarded as a stunning artistic achievement\,” according to the Washington Post. An ensemble of folk instruments will accompany the piece. \nOther highlights include El Guayaboso (The Liar) by Guido Lopez Gavilan\, which is based on the guaguancó (a subgenre of Cuban rumba)\, and Kasar mie la gaji (The Earth is Tired) by Alberto Grau\, who is one of the leading musical personalities in contemporary Venezuelan music. The concert will also feature Hanacpachap cussicuinin by Juan Perez de Bocanegra. DESCRIPTION:El Programa Hispano’s 2025 VOCES de la Comunidad Conference aims to raise awareness on the impacts of domestic violence\, sexual assault\, and sex trafficking within Latine communities by centering the voices of survivors and advocates as they share their experiences navigating system in search of support\, resources\, justice\, and healing. \nWe will also be joined by Latinx Parenting founder Leslie Priscilla\, who will facilitate “Ending Chancla Culture: Decolonizing our Families and Raising Future Ancestors”. \n2025 VOCES Conference – El Programa Hispano Católico \nEvent Schedule\n8:30am: Registration Check-in / Cafe con Pan \n9:30am: Opening Ceremony \n9:45am: Welcome \n10:00am: Keynote Speaker \n10:40am: Survivor Panel \n12:00pm: Lunch* and Awards Ceremony \n1:00pm: Latinx Parenting: Ending Chancla Culture \n3:10pm: Advocate Panel \n4:30pm: Closing Ceremony \n5pm – 6pm: Networking \n*Meals and refreshments will be provided from an array of our local Latine vendors.
